Vintage IKEA Gunghult Rocking Chair by James Irvine
Designed by James Irvine for IKEA in 2002, the Gunghult rocking chair is a rare and collectible piece that highlights IKEA’s short-lived period of experimental collaborations with acclaimed designers. Unlike mass-market releases, the Gunghult was produced in limited numbers and exhibits exceptional craftsmanship.
Its sculptural form and continuous rattan weave create an organic yet modern presence, while the stainless steel joint details add both strength and refinement. No longer in production, the Gunghult has become highly desirable among collectors of vintage IKEA and early 2000s design.
This example remains in excellent condition, with only light signs of age.

Local Delivery:
Most local deliveries within the East Bay and San Francisco can be arranged between $79–$200 and are typically completed within a few days. This rate doesn’t apply to all items and does not cover areas like San Jose, Santa Rosa, Napa Area, or Sacramento, which may incur higher fees. White glove service or specific situation are not applied with that pricing. If you're unsure, please reach out before purchasing.
Los Angeles Delivery: Twice a month, we travel to Los Angeles and can offer delivery for a flat rate of $199. This service applies to locations near Downtown Los Angeles and Santa Monica only. For customers who prefer to pick up, we can bring your order to a Downtown LA meeting point for $99, with pickup arranged by the customer. Please contact us in advance to confirm availability and exact logistics.
Shipping (Outside the Bay Area):
Effective immediately, we are no longer offering shipping services outside of the Bay Area. Due to several unfortunate incidents beyond our control, we have incurred significant losses and customer service issues related to third-party freight carriers handling large furniture.
For all out-of-area orders, shipping must now be arranged directly by the customer through a carrier of their choice, such as U-Ship. Full payment must be completed by wire transfer before any item is released for pickup. The customer is fully responsible for coordinating pickup, packing, shipping, and insurance.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. This decision was not made lightly, but several issues and financial losses have made it necessary in order for us to continue operating responsibly and fairly.
